Industrial Barbells
An industrial piercing is when two or more piercings are connected by a single barbell. It typically refers to a double perforation of the upper ear cartilage specifically. Two piercings are made, one fairly close to the head (anti-helix piercing) the second further down the cartilage, on the opposite side of the ear (helix piercing).
Cleaning the industrial piercing is significantly more complex than an average ear piercing. Patience and care is required in order to clean the fresh piercing. The total healing time for industrial piercings is between 3-6 months, but it can take up to an year depending on your body, and how you take care of it afterwards. The pain following an industrial piercing is not as bad as many people think, but you shouldn’t touch or play with, and avoid sleeping on it. Also, avoid any activities that may aggravate the area.
