Fishtail Nose Studs??

What are Fishtail Nose Studs? Why are they so long? How can i make them fit in my nose piercing?

Bones and Studs

When you first get a fishtail they will have the decoration on one end with a very long strait bar (about 3/4″) coming out of it. These are made so you can insert the jewelry easily and then bend it for your nose they way you want it to fit. Once fitted, and bent, simply clip off any remaining length you don’t want resting in your nose. Most commonly bent into an L-shape but can be bent into a C-shape, like the nose screw. These are great for healing a piercing since you can leave room for swelling at first, or make a tighter bend after it has healed. These are usually very comfortable to wear because they are custom fit for your nose.

Hollywood Body Jewelry carries a lot of fishtails and other body jewelry.

How to remove an Nose jewelry

Nose jewelry has its different challenges especially once the piercing is healed, and the amount of frustration if it’s your first piercing that you want to change out. Below is some information on how to remove some of the nose jewelry type people seem to have trouble with.

Nose Ring PackagesRemoving Nose Screws:

Removing nose screws can be a challenge, think of  how you put it in and reverse the motion. Grab the end on the outside of the nostril, pull the jewelry out until you come to the bend, and you would turn the jewelry past the bend, and rotate the jewelry through the curved part till the jewelry completely slides out. You would want to twist the jewelry through the curve. Feel a little pain? that’s ok, just dont force it.

Removing L-Bends and Fishtails:

As the name implies, there is a decoration on one end and a L-shaped bend on the other end. These are slightly easier to take out, and very similar to a nose screw. Push the jewelry through the piercing at the correct angle, and push the bottom of the L-shaped bar up and through the hole in the nose. Continue passing the bar through the nose piercing until the angle lines up, then push the rest of the jewelry through the piercing.

Septum Jewelry:

First you need to flip the jewelry down by grabbing the ends and rotating them down. It can sometimes be helpful to push up on the tip of your nose to add extra space. Rotate and slide the jewelry out. Septum jewelry is probably the easiest type of nose jewelry that can be easily removed.

Please Note: It’s important to keep your jewelry clean. Wash your hands well with antibacterial soap before, and wash the jewelry with antibacterial soap and warm water afterwards.

How to take care of your Organic Wood Plugs and Tunnels

Organic Wood Plugs and Tunnels

organic_1The best thing to do when you first receive organic wood plugs or tunnels is to oil them with jojoba oil.  Jojoba is a natural oil that will help to preserve and maintain the rich color of the wood.  Oiling prevents cracking and can be frequently applied.  If there is any detail carving, oil will enhance the image.

Wood is a fragile material, and even the larger sizes may break or crack if dropped.  In addition, wood should not be exposed to water, at least for extensive periods of time.  We don’t recommend showering or swimming with your wood jewelry.

Our experience has been that wood is not as prone to warping as horn.  It is lighter weight than both horn and bone and is comfortable to wear.

In most cases wood earrings or ear plugs are much better for your skin and body and with our fantastic designs there is always something for everyone.
